Weather and News Anchor WPIX11

a little bit about me

It’s hard to believe after moving up from traffic reporter to news and feature reporter, to weather and news anchor, and receiving 2 Emmy nominations, it all started with getting coffee, running scripts, and rolling the teleprompter for the anchors.

My passion for news and writing, however, dates back to elementary and high school, when I wrote for my school newspaper. I guess you can say I was an inquisitive child, asking questions about everything to anyone who would listen. My parents sure loved that! I wrote about everything from school events, to the sports recap of the basketball, volleyball and track meets I participated in.

From there, it was on to Rutgers University where I wrote for the college newspaper, as I completed a double major in Journalism and Communications. I continued with print journalism, but after reporting on a number of breaking news stories, I realized I wanted something more. I wanted to report the story live on the scene.

What I love most about my job is that every day is a different adventure filled with new and exciting people. There have been days when I co-anchored the news the news from 5-6 am, reported on breaking news 7-9 am, returned to the station for a celebrity interview. I also enjoy reporting from the neighborhoods where I grew up, in Brooklyn and New Jersey. And finally, I take pride in being the voice for people in need of help.

Working at WPIX has also offered me the opportunity to host, write and executive produce a number of 1/2 hour travel specials for the station. Most recently, I was named host of “Celebrity Taste Makers,” a 30 minute series on WPIX, about celebrities and their favorite restaurant.

However, my greatest achievement of all is my loving family. I could not be where I am today if it wasn’t for my supporting husband and two kids. Whether it’s going back and forth taking them to ballet, gymnastics, baseball or track meets, or just hanging home for movie night, family time is what I look forward to the most.
